Merchant Services

In 1986, Alaska Option partnered with the Alaska's largest supermarket chain to pioneer one of the earliest regional online point-of-sale (POS) programs in the country.

Today, Alaska Option processes nearly 50 million debit POS transactions annually. The POS program continues to experience double-digit transaction growth and includes merchants representing store locations all over Alaska. Nearly one million merchant locations nationwide, including most major retailers, accept the Alaska Option debit card. These retailers include Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Texaco, Kmart, Kroger, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Lowe's, Costco, military commissaries, Home Depot, Sports Authority and U.S. post offices. The network ranked 9th nationally in 2002, 2003 & 2004 POS volume according to Nilson Reports.

The Network maintains links with several national card issuer and acquirer processors, such as Fiserv CNS, Paypoint, Fifth Third Processing, Elan Financial, eFunds, FDMS, Star, Vital, and Concord EFS. These affiliations make it convenient and cost-effective to add Alaska Option POS to payment programs.
